Kundalini yoga

My own personal journey of healing and freeing myself of old and enduring childhood pain and the resulting adult neuroses, through attendance at Kundalini Yoga classes and Art Therapy, motivated me to train as a Kundalini Yoga teacher and a Foundation Level Arts Therapy Practitioner 10 years ago.

I have been practicing and teaching ever since, and I continue to be moved, inspired and amazed at the healing powers of this beautiful science and art form.

I am blessed to be able to share it with others – of all ages and abilities – every day.

What to expect

Kundalini Yoga is a completely holistic practice, suitable for all ages, fitness levels, shapes and sizes. Regular practice increases physical strength, vitality and flexibility, and brings a sense of balance, calm, clarity, self-acceptance and inner peace. And it is great fun!

Classes, accompanied by relaxing and uplifting music, focus on raising the Kundalini, our creative energy, through the chakras. The blend of movement, breath, guided deep relaxation and meditation energises, releases stress and anxiety, promotes healthy sleep and improves overall health by strengthening the immune, digestive, eliminative, and nervous systems. The use of mantra and sound encourages profound, sustained healing. Many students with back problems find wonderful pain relief and healing in class.

Kundalini yoga teaches you the art of relaxation, self-healing and elevation. “Balancing body and mind enables you to experience the clarity and beauty of your soul.” – Yogi Bhajan, who introduced this sacred science in the West in 1960s. You can find out more about Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan here.

Kundalini Yoga Classes are whatever you make them! But some traditions abide…

We always tune in with the mantra:

‘Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo’, meaning ‘I honour the wisdom within and energy and consciousness that surrounds me’.

We also chant a protective mantra with powerful properties:

Ad Guray Nameh, Jugad Guray Nameh, Sat Guray Nameh, Siri Guru Devay Nameh’ to surround ourselves, our loved ones and our communities with light.

At the end of the class we sing this beautiful Celtic prayer:

May the long time sun shine upon you. All love surround you. And the pure light within you. Guide your way on, guide your way on, guide your way on!’

We then chant ‘Sat Nam’ to seal and sustain the benefits of the yoga within
 our consciousness and our lives.

Whether you come to weekly classes, weekend workshops or retreats or private yoga therapy sessions, you will be amazed at the way Kundalini Yoga makes you feel.

Please call me any time to discuss how Kundalini Yoga can help you, or come along to a class and try it first!

Community and friendship

I always bring homemade yogi tea to classes (the recipe can be found here) so you can stick around and make friends or just take your time to return to your life! I also bring delicious healthy culinary delights to my workshops and retreats.

Bring comfy clothes, a blanket, a mat if you have one (I have mats) and an open heart and mind!

I also hold occasional sunrise sessions, solstice and equinox celebrations.

“I can say from my heart that Georgie is the best Kundalini teacher I could imagine. Her classes create such a wonderful positive loving energy that I need to smile every time I walk through the door and always leave feeling uplifted, relaxed and peaceful or moved inside. She has lots of wisdom and love to share for everyone. The regular practice has helped me lots on my personal path. This is the one appointment every week that I would not miss for anything :)”

“Kundalini Yoga is so holistic I love it. I come away from Georgie’s class feeling as though I have had a great work out, a massage, therapy, spiritual healing and a good sleep!”

Deidre Smith

“I felt like I’d had a little holiday away from my family! I came home invigorated and relaxed, my back felt massaged. Georgie has a wonderful, gentle, calm teaching presence and the structure of her class flows beautifully”

Anna, Kington

“Georgie I feel I have literally been fighting to save my own life for the last 18 months. Yoga has been my most useful tool in discovering myself and building the strength I need to overcome depression, practice forgiveness (for myself and others), accept and move on. The peace and happiness I feel today would have taken a lot longer to find without you and your teaching. Thank you.”
